About the Event

Babbles Retreat is a relaxed two or three day event where crafters, knitters, crocheters, weavers and spinners can come away from the stresses of normal life and spend time relaxing around a small group of like minded people.

The old country house is a perfect example of Traditional Irish hospitality. Ruth and her family provide utmost comfort and a constant supply of tea coffee and hilarious stories to accompany the lovely comfortable lounge space. There is also a lovely terrace outside the connected Old Forge Bar where there is often traditional music and delicious food served.

On Saturday, join us for the Makers Market which opens from 12-2pm. A select group of hand makers from all over the island of Ireland are going to be presenting their gorgeous hand dyed fibre and yarn. This year we have a special edition of hand built yarn bowls from @enableireland and handbuilt pottery mugs all the way from Canada.

Annie Brazier of the West Cork Yarn Festival will also give a talk about her experienced setting up this festival which is growing from strength to strength.

During the weekend there will be crafts set up for people to try, such as Weaving and Spinning on traditional spinning wheels, courtesy of the Irish Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers.
